Beach day at Skunk Harbor, Lake Tahoe

True days off are few and far between for a self-employed person—especially, it would seem, photographers. True, we may have days where we don’t have to leave the comfort of our computer, or even home, but odds are good we’re always doing something – editing photos for hours and hours, blogging, instagramming, emailing, balancing books, thinking up our next big marketing plan…

Point being, Wednesday morning, my friend and colleague Corey Fox took the morning off with me and we hiked down to Skunk Harbor, equipped with a camera, sunscreen and the perfect model – my dog, Addie. She is young, blonde, and cute, after all – isn’t that the standard? While you may wonder—why keep working on a day off?—you probably also know taking pictures is just plain fun. I’m here to tell you that whether you’re an amateur or a pro, that’s still the case. So on this slightly overcast Friday afternoon, I present for your viewing pleasure some pictures of the bluest lake I know, my first love, and home—Tahoe. (And a dog who cannot stop retrieving.)
